It's an international best seller.  It's sold over a million copies.  And, it has been translated into over 32 different languages.

The 5 Second Rule (#5SecondRule) book contains a secret so powerful you can literally change your life, 5 seconds at a time!

I came across the #5SecondRule listening to a podcast on the Lewis Howes Show.  He was interviewing Mel Robbins and she was talking about how The 5 Second Rule changed her life.

The most surprising part was she stumbled upon it completely by chance.  

Mel Robbins was in a very dark place with her life, her marriage, her finances and her career.  She had reached that point that some of us know too well: not wanting to get out of bed and face her situation.

Every night she would say to herself that tomorrow is the day.  Tomorrow is the day I am going to jump out of bed when my alarm goes off and tackle her problems.  And when the morning came, she hit that snooze button, repeatedly.

Then by chance, she saw a rocket launch with a countdown on TV.  That gave her an idea!

She decided the next morning, she was going to count back from 5... 4, 3, 2, 1 and get up.  And she did!

And the rest of the story is history.

She told her story about the #5SecondRule at the end of a TED talk, back before TED talks were big.  And other people tried it, and had amazing success with it.

Her book, The 5 Second Rule, is her story about the rule, how she applied it, and how many other hundreds of people have applied it and literally changed their lives.  In some cases, the #5SecondRule literally SAVED lives.

There is psychological and neurological evidence to back up the efficacy of the #5SecondRule, which she goes into detail about in the book.

Our daily lives essentially run on auto-pilot habit loops.  These loops, for better or for worse, control how we live our lives.  When we have an instinct to change the loop, there's a short window of time before our self-doubt and habit loop talks us out of following that instinct.

The #5SecondRule takes advantage of that small window.  You must literally count backwards...  5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and then take the action your instinct says you should take.

For example: going to the gym before work.  Your alarm goes off.  You are tired.  You know you have a busy day ahead.  You SHOULD go to the gym but your mind begins to talk you out of it.  Without the #5SecondRule you would give in and hit the snooze button.  However, if you employ the rule... 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and get up, grab your gym back and go workout.

Simple, right!?
